Laser Hair Removal
The evolution of how much body hair we want and where we do / don’t want it, has evolved over time, and varies between cultures. If your preference is for smooth legs, hairless armpits, or to just avoid that 5 o’clock shadow, it’s smart to investigate laser hair removal.
So trade in temporary, irritating solutions for the XEO, a hair reduction option that is permanent and painless. With no recovery time and long-lasting results, laser hair reduction is the solution you need. Our service is a favorite for both men and women.
HOW DOES LASER HAIR REMOVAL WORK?
As the name suggests, during laser hair removal a laser emits light at a wavelength that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair without stressing the skin. The light energy is converted to heat, damaging the hair follicles. Applied consistently over a predetermined period, the cumulative damage to the follicles permanently inhibits, or delays, future hair growth. We use our XEO® Aesthetic Workstation for these treatments; it is state of the art technology.
HOW MANY SESSIONS DO I NEED?
Laser hair removal is a cumulative process that requires the hair follicle to be damaged multiple times. During your complimentary consultation, we will discuss the areas of concern and plan your treatment so you have a better idea of how many sessions it will take to get optimal results. Typical time periods are:
- FACE / 6-8 Sessions, 4-6 weeks apart
- BODY / 6-8 Sessions, 6-8 weeks apart
WHAT BODY PARTS DO YOU TREAT?
Laser hair removal can eliminate unwanted body hair from nearly anywhere head to toe. The areas we treat include:
- Face (including eyebrows, sideburns, ears, and upper lip)
- Legs
- Neck
- Armpits
- Chest
- Bikini area
IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL PERMANENT?
Yes, once an area has fully been treated, the result is permanent hair reduction. However, hormone changes (such as pregnancy) can cause regrowth. It’s not uncommon to schedule annual touch-up sessions as part of a long-term maintenance program.
CAN ANYONE GET LASER HAIR REMOVAL?
For the most part, absolutely! However, laser hair removal is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. In addition, laser hair removal should never go over a tattooed area. There is a risk that the laser will reduce your tattoo’s color instead of reducing hair growth in that area.
Finally, be sure to inform our aesthetician if you have any skin or health conditions, such as eczema, so that it can be factored into determining the best course of action.
WHAT IS A SESSION LIKE?
A laser hair removal treatment at our center is quick and comfortable. All laser hair removal treatments are performed by our extensively trained aesthetician, whose goal is client comfort, professionalism, and optimal results.
You are given special glasses to protect your eyes, and a cold gel or cooling device is used to keep your skin comfortable and enable the laser to penetrate deeper.
The duration of laser hair removal sessions varies depending on the size of the area being treated.
HOW SHOULD I PREP?
With any laser hair removal procedure, it is advised to avoid plucking, and waxing hair in the target area up to 6 weeks prior. The hair follicle needs to be intact at the outset for best results. In addition, bleaching the hair is not advised because the laser will not be able to detect the hair without color.
We ask that the target area(s) be clean shaven 24 hours before a treatment.
Also, stop using topical medications in the target area at least 3 – 5 days prior.
POST-SESSION CARE RECOMMENDATIONS?
Short-lived side effects include redness in the treated area and possible minor inflammation. The skin may feel tingly or tender, although this dissipates quickly. It is recommended to use cool compresses or moisturizers to soothe your skin.
You need to follow specific post-treatment instructions, including avoiding sun exposure. If you need to be outside, it is vital to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen over 30 SPF.
