Chemical Peels

The words “chemical” and “peel” can be intimidating, but we assure you, there’s nothing to stress about with this common approach to beautiful skin.

Chemical peels are an exfoliating treatment that reduce the appearance of uneven skin tone, melasma, acne outbreaks, sun damage, fine lines, and other textural issues. They work using carefully tailored chemical solutions and are differentiated by their ingredients, concentration, and how long they are left on the skin.

With a peel, you may experience a mild tingling or stinging sensation while the chemical solution takes effect. The treatments typically take about 15 – 30 minutes.  In general, chemical peels are very well tolerated.

Immediately after treatment, your skin may appear pink and tender; patients compare this feeling to a sunburn. Several days after treatment, the dead skin will begin to peel, revealing noticeably smoother, more radiant skin. The healing process differs with each specific chemical peel treatment.

Our aesthetician will work with you to determine which peel is best for your skin type and desired goals.

GLYCOLIC PEEL

Glycolic acid peels combat common skin issues such as adult acne (non-oily skin), clogged pores and blackheads, slowing skin metabolism, and dull or uneven complexions. They can be applied in low level strengths as often as every 7 – 10 days or higher strengths every 2 – 4 weeks, making this peel very adaptable to one’s lifestyle with very little downtime.  Great for hyperpigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles.

JESSNER PEEL

A Jessner peel is a light- to medium-depth chemical peel created from a blend of salicylic acid, lactic acid, and resorcinol which all work together to exfoliate the outer layers of the skin. One treatment is usually only needed.  However, based on desired skin care goals and treatment plan, the process can be repeated in four-week intervals until desired results are reached. Great for all skin types, acne, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles, and pore size.

LACTIC PEEL

A lactic acid peel could be described as one of the gentlest peeling options available. It is an Alpha Hydroxy acid (AHA) peel containing lactic acid derived from milk. Its mild nature makes it suitable for almost all skin types, including people with sensitive skin.

The lactic acid potency ranges from 30% to about 70%, and the concentration is decided depending upon the sensitivity of the skin being treated, the extent of damage to the skin, and the desired results.  Great for delivering smoother, softer, and younger-looking skin while it helps diminish fine lines, dryness, acne, and hyperpigmentation (brown spots).

PERFECT DERMA PEEL

A medium to strong depth peel that can be applied to any part of the body.  It improves the clarity, tone, and texture of the skin; removes or reduces hyperpigmentation, including melasma; controls acne and improves the appearance of acne scars; reduces the appearance of pore size; softens fine lines and wrinkles.

RETINOL

A unique and versatile professional exfoliant that provides an effective way to achieve skin sloughing. This leave-on Retinol product can be used alone or in addition with our enzymes and peels.

SALICYLIC ACID PEEL

The Salicylic Acid Peel (SAP) is a superficial BHA peeling agent derived from aspirin, which is effective in treating skin problems such as acne and pimple marks. You can apply a salicylic acid peel to the face and the upper back, upper arm, and upper chest areas. This peel works by breaking down the bonds which hold the skin’s cells together, resulting in the shedding or peeling away of the skin. This way, it also makes your skin brighter and smoother, treats blackheads and more.

TCA PEEL

Trichloroacetic Acid, often referred to as TCA, exfoliates and renews the skin.  This is one of the strongest peels and it is known for delivering exceptional results.  TCA is most frequently applied to the face, neck, décolleté, hands, and arms, but it can be used on any area of the body.

TCA can treat a wide variety of skin conditions, which makes it the perfect chemical peel for individuals with multiple concerns.  This peel is recommended for most skin types, particularly normal to oily skin. It is considered a more aggressive treatment for improving acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, and uneven skin tone (hyperpigmentation) while increasing collagen and elastin production.
