  • Cancer Reconstruction
Left sided Parotid cancer removed by a different surgeon resulted in left sided facial paralysis.

Left photo - preoperative face at rest.
Right photo - preoperative lateral view of paralysis and previous defect.
  • Cancer Reconstruction
Procedures included Brow lift (left) to gain symmetry and better function of the upper eyelid. Upper eyelid gold weight implantation to assist with eyelid closure. Lateral canthoplasty with lower lid shortening to tighten the lower lid and allow the eye to get complete closure. A face lift on the left side to remove much of the excess skin in the neck and face helps remove some of the weight of gravity. This works in conjunction with the facial sling that was placed to the corner of the mouth to elevate the oral commisure and assist with eating.

Left Photo - Preoperative attempt at smiling.
Right Photo - 2 months postoperative view of the oral commisure (corner of the mouth). This is intentionally over corrected to allow for gravity, and eventual relaxation of the sling.
